Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received members of the Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The first lady hosted the team on Monday, a week after their ouster from the ongoing 2023 Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The Super Falcons crashed out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, having lost through penalties to the English team, the Lionesses last Monday, August 7.
Shortly after the loss, Remi had praised the Nigerian women’s team for showing they are no pushovers. She added that England’s triumph “was simply luck”.
The first lady, who watched the game alongside Nana Shettima, wife of the vice president; and Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the senate president, promised to receive the Falcons “as true heroes on their return home”.
Remi’s hosting of the Falcons comes after her reception of Nigeria’s D’Tigress following their fourth consecutive women’s Afrobasket title.
