The podium where the swearing-in ceremony of the new Kano state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is being held has collapsed leaving many trapped.
The new governor, his deputy, and the acting chief judge were all on the podium when it collapsed, but all are safe.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be known, but a video sighted by our correspondent showed the venue of the event filled to its capacity
Abba was declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Kano state in March 2023, after beating his arc-rival, Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He is an ally of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and has been with him for 37 years, serving in different capacities.
