Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has sentenced Rahman Adedoyin, owner of Hilton Hotel Ile-Ile, to death for killing Timothy Adegoke, an OAU postgraduate student.
This is according to a ruling presided over by the state Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
The judge declared that Adedoyin and two of his workers, based on the circumstances of the case established by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, are found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful killing of the deceased.
Adegoke was killed in Adedoyin’s hotel in 2021. He was on Monday, November 7, 2021, declared missing before his dead body was found.
Adegoke, who was based in Abuja had travelled to Ile-Ife to write one examination of the school distance learning centre for Moro, Osun State.
His family and friend began to worry when he couldn’t be reached as he didn’t show up for the exams and his contacts were going through.
Police later found his lifeless body a week after he was declared missing. This led to the arrest of Rahman Adedoyin, owner of the hotel where Adegoke had lodged before he went missing and six other suspects.
