The officer attached to Ogudu Area H command allegedly raped the teenager after she reported a case of a stolen phone to the station.
Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesperson in the state, told NAN on Sunday that the officer is currently in custody.
Hundeyin said the command would not shield the suspect from facing the law, adding that the matter would not be covered up.
He said the officer absconded from work after the incident but turned himself in for questioning on Saturday.
The spokesperson said Adegoke Fayoade, the Lagos commissioner of police, had ordered an investigation into the matter.
“The case is under full investigation. There is no plan to cover up the allegation,” NAN quoted Hundeyin as saying .
Investigation revealed that the said police officer, who got wind of the stolen phone, offered to help track the girl’s missing phone after taking her statement.
It also learnt that the officer, simply identified as Owolabi, allegedly deceptfully tricked the teenager with false information that police operatives had arrested the suspected thief.
“The officer then lured the girl with the false information. When she arrived his office, he allegedly raped the girl under gun point,” a source said.
