Mohbad: NDLEA denies forcing Mohbad to take ‘white substance’ before his death

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reacted to the social media allegations bordering on the alleged arrest and detention of the late artiste, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad.

Recall that days after Mohbad’s death, there was an allegation making the rounds that he was arrested and detained by the NDLEA in February, 2022, and was given a substance to drink while in the custody of the agency.

However, in a letter dated September 28, 2023, and signed by the Deputy Commander-General of Narcotics, Josephine Obi, the NDLEA categorically informed the police that Mohbad was never arrested neither was he ever detained in the custody of the NDLEA on the said date or any other date before or after.

The NDLEA added in the statement that the foregoing being the case, the issue of the anti-narcotics agency giving him any substance to drink did not arise.

On Friday, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa had, amongst other things, said, “While re-assuring that the Command will sustain its firm determination to ensure justice in this case.

I wish to assure that the members of the public will be availed of any further development in relation to the outcomes of the Autopsy and Toxicology Reports, DPP advice, feedback from NDLEA and any other development in the investigation into this case.”

Responding to the development in a statement on Saturday, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, said the agency sent its response by flight to Lagos and was received by the police same Thursday 28th September.
