Extreme eater Pan Xiaoting, 24, unfortunately passed away on July 14 while livestreaming a 10-hour eating binge. Pan, who gained popularity for her Mukbang videos, would eat a lot of food while interacting with her viewers. Her stomach was found to be terribly deformed and full of undigested food during an autopsy, as per the reports of Daily Star.
A popular trend that started in South Korea in the middle of the 2000s is called “mukbang,” in which hosts eat a lot of food while being live on camera. The past ten years have seen a global increase in its popularity. Pan persisted in her dangerous streaming habits, which frequently involved consuming up to 10 kg of food in a single session, in spite of warnings from her parents and well-wishers.
Pan has previously been admitted to the hospital due to gastrointestinal bleeding. But because her audience demanded it and she wanted to become famous online, she kept streaming.
