Bawa: Former EFCC chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa regains freedom after 4 months in DSS custody

The immediate past chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa has regained freedom after four months in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS).

A now-viral video of his release sighted by our correspondent on Wednesday night showed his family welcoming him home with utmost joy.

The secret police arrested Bawa on June 14, 2023, hours after his suspension by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The DSS was pressured to either release Bawa or charge him with offences the secret police’s investigation has found that Bawa committed.

It was said that his arrest and detention was to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office” following “weighty allegation of abuse of office leveled against him”.
