Air Peace, Nigeria’s national carrier, marked a historic milestone as it launched its inaugural Lagos-London flight service on Saturday, signaling a new era of direct connectivity between the two cities.
The commencement of the Lagos-London route comes after the airline’s announcement made a month earlier during a prelaunch forum held in February, where detailed plans for the direct flight operations were outlined, with the official launch scheduled for March 30.
In a significant development, Allen Onyema, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, had disclosed in November the successful acquisition of necessary permits, including the Foreign Carrier Operator Permit and Third Country Operator Permit, paving the way for the airline’s international expansion.
Air Peace marked the commencement of its London service with a celebratory announcement on its official channels, expressing gratitude to all involved parties for their contributions to achieving this remarkable feat.
The airline stated, “With the launch of our London service, we are thrilled to have achieved yet another milestone in our commitment to providing seamless connectivity across cities. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who has played a part in the success of this inaugural flight.”
The inaugural flight from Lagos to London witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and Doris Uzoka-Anita, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, underscoring the significance of Air Peace’s expansion efforts and its impact on Nigeria’s aviation sector.
