VP Shettima Commissions Construction of N15bn Vice President Mansion in Abuja

The recent commissioning of the Vice President’s residence in Abuja by VP Kashim Shettima marks the latest development in a project that has seen substantial changes since its inception.

Originally approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in 2010 at an estimated cost of N7 billion, the construction of this residence had faced delays and was left incomplete by previous administrations.

Under the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu, the project has undergone a significant contract review. The revised cost for the design and construction now stands at N15 billion, more than doubling the initial budget. This increase reflects the modifications and updates necessary to complete the project and ensure it meets contemporary standards and requirements.

The decision to renovate and finally complete the residence underlines the administration’s commitment to providing adequate infrastructure for high-level officials, ensuring functionality and maintaining standards that befit the office of the Vice President.
