The Department of State services (DSS) has rearrested Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The operatives of the secret police on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, took custody of Emefiele after a physical fight with officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

Recall earlier the DSS operatives had face-off with prison officials over the custody of Emefiele.
The Federal High Court, on Tuesday, granted Emefiele bail on a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo admitted the suspended apex bank chief on a N20m bail, with one surety in like sum.
He was also ordered to be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Services pending the perfection of his bail.
But in a dramatic move, armed operatives of the DSS, who took a strategic position of the court, engaged in a physical scuffle with officials of the NCS to prevent them from taking custody of Emefiele in accordance with the court order.
The DSS had detained Emefiele since his arrest on Saturday, June 10, after President Bola Tinubu suspended him on Friday, June 9, 2023.
